Oh, crap, another pop culture icon is dead. The original TV “Batman” Adam West has passed away after a battle with leukemia.
Well, folks are excited because Comic-Con is on in San Diego, and the story from Saturday is news of the pairing of Superman and Batman together on the big screen.
The new movie is to be directed by Zack Snyder with Dark Knight director Christopher Nolin signing on as an executive producer. Word is a lot of the Man of Steel cast will be involved as well.
My thought is — why the heck did they wait this long? There have been tons of Superman-Batman pairings over the years — particularly on Saturday morning TV shows.
My guess is this latest blockbuster – set to begin production for 2014 – will be a precursor to a future Superfriends-type blockbuster that will also feature Robin as well as Wonder Woman.
This really does set the gravy train in motion for Warner Bros. I am also willing to bet the finished movie will be a massive moneymaker that will set some box office records — unlike a few other movies that have been showing up on movie screens lately (more on that, next).
