News from Canada: trade deal done, plus a big change in government in Quebec

Two items in the news from frozen Canada, and yes, it is freezing up here:

NAFTA is no more, Canada has agreed to a new trade deal with the USA and Mexico called “USMCA”. Needless to say, America’s hilarious president Donald Trump is gloating about this deal. Canada’s dairy farmers, not so much.

And there is a big change in Quebec politics. Their provincial election was held today and the Liberals were violently booted out, to be replaced as majority government by the Coalition (CAQ) led by Francois Legault as new Premier. (Meanwhile, the separatist Parti Quebecois were absolutely reduced to rubble, which is even better news.)

That’s all.
