Anyway, the finals are now on between Club America and Tigres, with Game One on tonight at Azteca Stadium and Game Two happening on Christmas Day.
Might I add that a two-game series seems to work for Liga MX, but in MLS soccer you have this lousy one-game-for-the-Cup format where one team can dominate shots-on-goal for an entire game but still lose the Cup in a shootout after a 0-0 draw. Yes, I’m still bitter. Had that MLS series between Toronto FC and Seattle gone two games, it might have had a different outcome which might have been a bit more fair.
Also, an oddity of Mexico soccer is that they have a summer-fall season and then a winter-spring season, both of which have full playoffs. So this league always ends up having two champions in one year! Very strange.
