Brazil’s Senate sends ex-President Dilma Rousseff packing at last

The Senate in Brazil removed Dilma Rousseff from office as President today by a 61-20 vote, for manipulating the budget. For her part, Rousseff called it basically a “coup”.

I watched some of the coverage online today on Brazilian TV. Maybe this will mean Brazil will finally be properly run, for a change, and that might mean fewer problems for the country in the future. The place is already suffering thanks to Zika and a multitude of infrastructure concerns. You would think Brazil would have some things going for it; it seems like a fun country in a lot of respects because of its spectacular beaches, its passion for soccer, Carnival, and of course its multitude of awesome supermodels.

But the place really is a mess from the top down. They need to clean that government right up.
