Theresa May is the new Conservative leader after her rival Andrea Leadsom withdrew from the leadership race. So that’s it, May officially becomes Prime Minister when David Cameron officially hands over power on Wednesday, much sooner than expected.
This entire leadership race took less than three weeks, from start to finish — the Brexit vote had been on June 23 — and yet compare that to Canadian leadership races that last for several months! Then there are the Democrats and Republicans in the USA, and their races for the Presidential nomination last over a year, at least. You have to admit, when it comes to politics the British sure are efficient.
