Some good box office news, for a change: big UK opening for Bond, James Bond in Spectre

Some good box office news to tell you about, now, instead of all the usual doom and gloom.

It won’t be released in North America until Friday, but already the first week of release for James Bond in overseas markets has been huge. Spectre has opened to box office records with a first week haul of $80.4 million.

This includes a haul of £41 million in the UK which is a record for movies released on a Monday there, which is more than double what Skyfall made. And according to the story from the BBC, it has also set records in Norway, the Netherlands, Finland and Denmark.

I’ll say this for the Europeans, they have taste in movies.
