Maybe part of it has to do with the fact that this time it was Fox, not Marvel, that made this stinkbomb of a motion picture. Had Marvel Studios had the rights to make it, maybe they would have put a decent effort into it like they’ve done for Iron Man and these other characters. But the previous cinematic efforts involving Fantastic Four have also been subpar.
Anyway, this latest version of Fantastic Four only grossed a domestic haul this weekend of $26 million, which is about $26 million higher than what it deserved based on the venomous reviews out there (9 percent at Rotten Tomatoes). And it was $3 million behind Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. I have to say this ranks right down there with the Adam Sandler career-ender Pixels as the biggest box office disappointment of this summer. Anyway, I think I have said about enough about this weekend at the movies.
