I had to look at the numbers a couple of times before they sunk in, but they are staggering. Jurassic World just scored the biggest opening weekend of all time.
Its domestic total was $208.8 million for the weekend, beating Marvel’s The Avengers’ record, and its $315.6 million overseas haul beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part II.
Overall, it’s a half-a-billion worldwide weekend haul for Jurassic World, an absolutely dominating performance. It’s proof that the dinosaurs really are kings of the earth, even now, long after they’ve disappeared.
